Specializing in strategic messaging, community engagement and media management, Sophie helps guide client teams through complex policy issues to accomplish their objectives.
Examples of success include serving as political director for Secretary of State Adrian Fontes in 2022; Maricopa County Sheriff Paul Penzone’s campaign manager in 2020, garnering the most votes for a candidate in Maricopa County history; working with ONE Community so secure bipartisanship support of LGBTQ non-discrimination measures and passing similar ordinances in four municipalities; partnering with the Arizona Craft Brewers Guild to run a communications and advocacy campaign to pass legislation to increase production limits for microbreweries in Arizona; working with the Arizona Medical Association to stop a dangerous scope of practice expansion; and working on customer and public engagement issues on pipeline safety and encroachment remediation for large public utilities.
Prior to joining NSG, Sophie was a Director and Senior Associate at FirstStrategic Communications, where she coordinated issue campaigns, coordinate public relations and media relationships, built coalitions, and managed client community programs.
Sophie is the former Co-Chair of the ASU Barrett Honors College Alumni Council and has volunteered with the Banner University Medical Center NICU Parents Advisory Council, Arizona Legal Women and Youth Services, is a member of the City of Phoenix Arts & Culture Commission and is a graduate of Valley Leadership Class 40.
Sophie graduated summa cum laude from Barrett, the Honors College at Arizona State University where she also served as Student Body President. She earned her Master’s, with merit, in International Development and Social Policy at the Institute for Development and Planning Management at the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom.
Although she originally hails from Brooklyn, Sophie considers Arizona home. Sophie and her husband reside in central Phoenix with their two children.
